Standards
Editorial policy
PropertyMeter aims to be the most accurate and current plain-English reference on Singapore property. These are the standards every page follows.
1. Official government sources only
We cite only official Singapore government sources. Rates, limits and rules come from the agency that sets them: IRAS for stamp duty and property tax, MAS for loan rules, HDB and MND for public housing, URA for planning and private property, CPF Board for CPF use, and Singapore Statutes Online for the law. Each page links to the sources it relies on. We do not cite news sites, property portals or other private publications.
2. Fact-checking and dates
Every figure is checked against its source before publication. Each page shows the date it was last checked and last updated. Key facts are labelled "as of" a date because policy can change.
3. Updates when policy changes
We track announcements from the government agencies above. When a rule changes, we update the affected pages first, usually within one working day, and note the change on the page.
4. Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and note what changed and when. Readers can report errors through our contact page (coming soon).
5. Use of AI tools
We may use AI tools to help draft and organise content. A human checks every fact against the original source before anything is published.
6. Independence and advice
Our content is general information, not financial, legal or tax advice. We do not list properties for sale. Any commercial relationships will be disclosed clearly on the pages they affect.
