Proximity Housing Grant (PHG)
What is PHG (Proximity Housing Grant)?
The Proximity Housing Grant (PHG) is an HDB grant for buyers of a resale flat who will live with or near their parents or child. Families get $30,000 to live together, or $20,000 to live within 4 km. Singles get $15,000 or $10,000. Unlike most grants, there is no income ceiling, and second-timers can qualify.

How the PHG works
The PHG encourages families to live close together for mutual care and support. You can get it on top of the CPF Housing Grant and the Enhanced CPF Housing Grant.
| Proximity | Families | Singles |
|---|---|---|
| Live with parents or child | $30,000 | $15,000 |
| Live within 4 km of parents or child | $20,000 | $10,000 |
The parents or child who help you qualify must be at least Singapore permanent residents. A single child helping their parents qualify must be 35 or older.
Example
A couple buy a resale flat 2 km from the HDB flat where the husband’s parents live. They qualify for a PHG of $20,000. If the parents moved in with them instead, the grant would be $30,000, and the parents would have to be listed in the HFE letter and resale application and live in the flat during the MOP.
Common mistakes
- Moving away during the MOP. The parents or child must keep living with you or within 4 km until the MOP ends.
- Using an old address. HDB checks the address on your parents’ or child’s NRIC.
- Assuming it applies to new flats. It doesn’t; it is for resale flats only.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an income ceiling for the PHG?
No. HDB's income ceilings for CPF housing grants exclude the Proximity Housing Grant.
How is the 4 km measured?
Between the resale flat you are buying and the HDB flat, HDB rental flat or private residential property your parents or child live in. Their NRIC must show that address.
Can I get the PHG for a new BTO flat?
No. The PHG is for resale flats. For new flats, the Family Care Scheme (Proximity) gives priority in the ballot to families living with or near each other.
